Manganese Oxide (MnO) – Enhancing Welding Performance
Manganese Oxide (MnO) - Welding Grade is used in welding primarily as a
component in welding electrodes and fluxes. Its key roles include :
1. Deoxidizer – Manganese oxide helps remove oxygen from the weld pool,
preventing oxidation and improving weld quality.
2. Alloying Agent – It contributes manganese to the weld metal, which
enhances strength, toughness, and wear resistance.
3. Stabilizer in Fluxes – In flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and submerged arc
welding (SAW), manganese oxide helps stabilize the arc and improve slag
formation.
4. Hardness and Strength – It increases the hardness and tensile strength of
the weld, making it suitable for high-strength applications.
